I love the way that they lay downI love the way that they lay down, I love their lines. However, when erasing anything around them, they smudge, and when coloring the picture with alcohol markers, the lines are blurring. Now, even allowing a decent amount of time to try, it still does it. I've even changed paper types. ): those are two important factors for me, hence the 3 stars. If you freehand with just the pens, no lead to erase, or just want to draw without using markers to color, then these should work for you great. 3Great pens for inking over other mediumI ve drawn all my life but I ve really been getting into it more lately so I ve been purchasing proper supplies. Love these pens. They apply the right amount of ink I need to ink over projects previously done in pencil. I was having problems finding a good ink pen that would glide over the lead. This does the trick with ease and with out leaking through the page. Love the size options it came with.I did not have any problems with leaking ink upon arrival and they have help up and still working perfect months later. 5Great for any artist!This is great for any artist; student, professional, or even a hobbyist. The ink is rich in pigment, and will last a very long time, depending on average use. Even the pencil was pretty great, and it's not just your regular, store brand, cheap, pencil, it actually is much more sturdy and has a nice feel to it. The eraser that comes with it is perfect for erasing those tiny mistakes that you can't undo with a large eraser, and can be used just as a regular pencil for school or work, instead of just sketching or drawing. This set allows me to add fine detail to my art and it even comes with a graphic pen, to color in those empty spaces or create thicker lines. Overall very amazing, and would definitely recommend to any and all artists. This is definitely something all detail-oriented illustrators need. The only thing I would like to add however, is that you need a very steady hand, or it can create very shaky strokes that are just really ugly and can mess up the entire drawing. I'd also like to add that you shouldn't press too hard or risk the tip splitting or breaking. These are very fine pens and the ink is really pigmented and you do not require a lot of pressure to handle it..(Anyone else got these because of Mark Crilley? XD) 5Excellent for Comic/Manga ArtworkI love these pens and use them for inking over pencil comic book drawings. It comes with .005, .01, .02, .03, .05, .08, 1, BR (brush). The size 1 is also a brush pen. I have no complaints only that I wish I'd of found them sooner. Before I was using the Pilot V5 and V7 pens. I use these to produce both copies of my favorite comic artists work as well as my own original work. Included below is a copy of a Walter Simonson Wolverine cover and an Art of Zach Howard cover that I really admired. The Godzilla is an original drawing based on an action figure. 5No, Just NO!I'm Super upset about this! see picture. It's supposed to be brand new and It was sent to me opened with tape wrapped around it. I can see if I got this used but no. Now I have to wait until July 6th just to get a replacement, and I hope I don't run into this problem again. As for how they may work, I don't know, I didn't try because even if they did work. How they look someone could have used them for a while and then put them back. Then that would be shame on me. I'll give a better review when I get a replacement. 1Got defective pens.I waited until I had used these for awhile before making this, but its been brought to my attention that the pens I got were seriously defective, I had not used them much because the lines came out patchy and rough, after I got a set of copic multiliners I showed the comparison and many micron users told me the patchiness was not normal at all.so I cant speak for the pens when they are not defective, so, give them a shot for the price but its a gamble. 3Purple reignThis kit is pretty neat, the product description is pretty self explanatory. I got this for an artist friend of mine. The only thing I'd like to mention, however, is that the ink is purple ink. Not black or multicolor. If you look over the picture of the front of the product packaging it doesn't tell you this. Nor does anywhere I've seen in the ad on Amazon mention that. So I figured I'd mention it here, just as an FYI.If you're looking for a drawing kit, with eight pieces, and purple in color then guess what? You've found exactly what you're looking for! 3Subscription fraudI did not set up to subscribe to this item or any item ever but they sent this anyway a few months ago. Of course it ran a card to a bank account I rarely use anymore as we have moved out of state and use different ones for most things now and screwed everything up. This is too much to keep up with why would someone subscribe to something anyway. If someone has a need to, it should be more difficult to set up, not where it can happen accidentally or where someone else can do it.When I purchased the product originally they were ok but not as good as the ones I got for my daughter at an actual store. I think these pens are too delicate to be shoved in an envelope and sit in the heat plus however long they've sat in the warehouse. 1Simple and Good QualityThese are awesome markers for a beginner. I highly recommend them for any starter. There was a variety of tips and the black color was smooth and nice. A great set. I am a hobby artist along with my younger cousin. When I first started I went with the pricey but Great quality Faber Castle Pitt Pens that came with 3 black pens and a variety of grays. The 3 black pens came in small, medium, and big. It was a nice (but pricey) set, and I wasn't all entirely sure how to use the gray. So this set was a lot simpler for a beginner like my cousin. Also the variety of black tips is a plus.I also liked how these Sakura pens showed the dimensions instead of just "small, medium, big." it will show her what kind of tips she likes for her art for future reference. 5Defective lot for the .05 pen.I had to return the original set because the .05 pen leaked profusely; it even leaked when it was just being stored. The replacement came and the same pen, the .05, is leaking in this set as well. The defect is only with the .05, so if you need the other pens but not that one, it might work for you. I cannot the second set as my daughter did not tell me about the slower leak until it was too late (I think she did not want me to send it back and she would be without pens). I am hoping to find the individual .05 somewhere and hopefully it will not be from, what I assume, is the same defective lot. 1
