Customer Reviews

These work Perfectly With My Shure SM 58 MicsThese windscreens work perfectly on my Shure SM 58 Mics and help to eliminate breath and wind noise while at the same time keeping the Mics a little cleaner. They also reduce pops and ticks and provide a little drop protection. If I accidentally bump the mic they also help to reduce the noise somewhat. When they get dirty I just wash them with soap and water, squeeze them out and let them dry before putting them back on. Make sure you get the originals. I just purchased a set for a PA system at work and they ended up being a different brand, didn't fit as well and were only half as thick. These ones are better.5Do Not Buy; Get the On Stage Foam Windscreens InsteadI bought one of these when I bought my Shure SM58.I have the On Stage Foam Mic Windscreen I bought previously to use with the Audio Technica ATR-2100 mic, but wanted to try out the shure branded windscreen to see if it was any better. It's not. Compared to the On Stage, the foam is thinner, not as dense, doesn't hug the microphone as nice (at the bottom where the opening is, the shure stays open, like a bell; the on stage is tighter at the opening) and in general feels incredibly cheaply made. And it costs more than the on stage.Don't waste your money on the shure brand; get the On Stage windscreens instead.1Used on Blue Yeti, Fits. This foam fits perfectly on a Blue Yeti, which is what I used it for. I personally didn't like how it affected the sound of my mic but for its intended use it fits. You will need to carefully stretch it along the side and it will take some time to get it on. When you do, it stays relatively well. The foam at the tip has another layer compared to the sides. Which means it muffles the top more than the sides. 5Yes, it Fits On the Blue Yeti. Barely.I bought this taking a chance that it would fit on my Blue Yeti Microphone. It does, but expect to spend a good 10 minutes slowly stretching it out and moving it onto the microphone. Once it's on though, it's not going to move.It seems to prevent ambient wind noises, like a cross breeze or something. I haven't tested it outside, as I don't plan on using it out there. I bought it mainly to be a sort of pop filter when using it in omnidirectional mode, and to possibly replace the bulky pop filter I was using. Plus it keeps the inside free of dust.5Again, no brainerDoesn't cut highs as you might think, per Shure tech support. They say they've tested these and the high attenuation is very negligible. I think they also cut a bit of pops and do a fair job of wind noise. Trouble is, they don't quite cover around the bottom of the mic. There's sort of a collar remaining on the bottom of the windscreen which always looked goofy to me.5Stops most of the Pops I DJ for an Italian wedding show that uses 4-5 different microphones and up to ten different users in each show. This creates lots of challenges. My wife designed a mike cradle (just a small plastic basket lined with foam) that provides a drop point. Sometimes with two mikes being dropped in the cradles, the mikes bump and make noise. The other problem is that with folks playing Italians (exaggerated style) there are many loud exaltations and over enunciated speeches. In both cases, NOISE: pops, clunks and distortions. These professional windscreens have solved both those problems. This is a valuable and useful addition to my kit. 5Good qualitySolid quality foam. You can stretch these on and off the SM58 s without feeling like they are tearing apart. They seem to help slightly with plosives, but it s even more effective to turn the mic slightly off axis and to one side, or to talk over/across to prevent plosives. That or buy a real windscreen. For stage use with the mic being handheld or stand mounted, I m sure it will be fine as long as the talent isn t trying to eat the mic with the foam cover on.5Not so greatI got this when I got upgraded my microphone. I was using an AKG and a "pop screen". With the pop screen, all the unwanted aspirations from "p"s, and "s"s were gone. With this instead of the pop screen, not so much. The "p"s were still puffing in the recording pretty bad... I was hoping to dump the pop screen, but alas, this is not the case... :(3PERFECTLY FITS YOUR SM 58 IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE.I got these for my 50th anniversary SM 58 silver mics and the Gray colored screens are a perfect match and it totally eliminates those annoying P pops and other Plosives with ease and gives the mic a much smoother sound ( if you are a Radio DJ or Voice over announcer. Recording artist or in any other professional situation you will want to have a few of these handy for your studio) and I highly recommend these shure windscreens for your shure microphones.5Really happy with this windscreenI purchased this so that I could use the red color to quickly distinguish between two mics going into two channels. I was very pleased to actually hear how it affects the recordings. I've now started using a mic I NEVER USED to record vocals for my lead vocals because all the plosives have gotten to be nearly non-existant. Fantastic. So far a great product. Oh and final note - sometimes these foam windscreens have a chemical smell out of the package but this one did not.5Shure has changed these windscreensThe Shure windscreens I purchased three years ago didn't noticeably change the sound of the voice. These new windscreens cut down on the high frequencies drastically. "S's" and "T's" were lost. The difference between the windscreens of the past and the new versions is an added amount of foam at the tip of the windscreen. I returned them because they were not "acoustically transparent" as described.2Expensive, but Worth ItOK. It's expensive. But it's worth the extra money and here's why.You can get cheap ones that look almost as good on a web page. But, don't be fooled. I've used the cheap ones over the past thirty years in hundreds of performances as a singer. Here's what I've discovered: They stink. They lose color very fast. You cannot wash them. (However, be careful when washing the Shure ones too. Don't use soap.) They often block some of the treble sound of the voice. They often don't fit the SM58 exactly.Use different colors for each singer and your sound person will be able to quickly adjust each individual microphone no matter where you are on the stage.And... get the real Shure brand and you'll be happier in the long run.5
