Customer Reviews

It's very fun to play and ridiculously funny!!!!!!!!I bought the PC version of this game and have been playing it on my Windows 8, Intel Core I7 with 8 gigs of ram. It's very fun to play and ridiculously funny. It's like watching a full season of the South Park episodes, so much so that you forget you're actually part of the game! I lost track of time and I realized I played for like 3 hours without stopping. I'm not a gamer but I'm addicted to this game. There are profanity and gross humor, like throwing poop as a weapon! Who doesn't want to throw poop in a video game! It's very fun to play and you won't regret it. Stop thinking and buy it already dude! It's on sale for like $19 now... I bought it for $27! I want my money back Amazon! Again, I don't normally play games, but when I do, I only play "the Shitick of Truth"!Update: So, after hours and hours of unbelievably fun gameplay, I'm finally done with this game and very disappointed... I'm very disappointed that it's over and there's no sequel to this game! You could tell Matt Stone & Trey Parker really put their heart into this game. The last RPG type of game I played was Final Fantasy 7 on PS1 (1998); and when I finally decided to play another RPG type of game again after like almost, I was very satisfied by it. Matt Stone & Trey Parker should be very proud of this game because I think this game will be in my collection for years.. Please make a sequel to this game!5The ideal gift for any South Park fanI got this as a gift for my boyfriend, who has seen every episode of South Park, and he just about lost his mind when I gave it to him. I watched him play it a fair bit. It didn't quite take him 20 hours of play to beat the game, but he didn't do every single side quest and he didn't have to repeat parts often. What struck me the most about this game was the level of detail they went into to reference so many little jokes from throughout the television show's history, but also that it's hilarious even if you don't get those jokes. The game plays like a very long South Park movie, in that the plot is even more intricate and well-made than the average episode, and it's just so funny. It is better in my opinion than most video games based off a television show/movie because it a simplistic excuse to sell something else to fans. It is a fairly short video game, but it is definitely a merit-worthy video game. For any parents: this is DEFINITELY an M game though, from the crudeness of the humor and the frequency of language. The gore is mild, but not that much worse than what you might see in a television show like The Walking Dead.5For South Park fans, a must play game. For everyone else, a fun turn-based RPG.Fun game, good story. Replay factor is limited since classes don't vary that significantly.. all classes rely heavily on melee/bow attacks. Surprisingly, this is one of the more polished PC games I've played. Some parts may be too be too much for those sensitive to strong language or nudity (but it's South Park, what did you expect?). This game is xbox 360 (or dualshock3 emulating a 360) controller compatible, which I preferred over mashing keys on the mouse/keyboard...either way, you are stuck with fixed controls. If I had to nit pick, some negatives are load times between maps (not too long, but just seems unnecessary), cannot skip long animations (e.g. Butter's Professor Chaos move). The achievements were pretty fun to get. Overall, I put 40 hours into this game with two full playthroughs and a partial speed run (for a mid-game achievement). Overall a great game and most importantly of all, no UPlay!5Fun gameI asked for and received this game for Christmas. I love South Park, but am not a big gamer. I decided to try gaming with this game. I like the turn-based play, and the fun things from the show. I also like that you can play as different characters and make the game a bit different. I don't like that I couldn't beat the secret service agents on the first play through before I finished the main quest and then found that I couldn't go back and clean up the littler quests, though. So, this time around I'm going to try and get them all done before I beat the main quest. Obviously, I'm not a hardcore gamer, so this review is more from someone who loves South Park, and likes to play games casually. I think the story was fun, if not crude, but then it IS South Park. I can see myself playing this through as each character and not getting bored since the weapons are different, and you have to come with different tactics to beat the various enemies. What I would like to see would be some more expansion packs, and perhaps new stories or quests added. I did my the two add-ons for the costumes and weapons.4A brilliant franchise extensionWhile the gameplay is pretty simple (you already expected that, didn't you?), the game content is brilliant. Actually if the turn-based gameplay were any more complex it would distract from the reason I got the game in the first place - the story. The game truly does play like a long South Park episode, with the story getting progressively more and more ridiculous - but in the same way fans of the show have grown to love.At the same time, the game does make use of the interactive nature of the medium well - inserting easter eggs, crafting creative, explorable environments, poking fun at the fetch quest trope, lightly mocking the Skyrim franchise, including 80's video game references, including a "simon says" casual game element at one point with a few sequences that you can't possibly win and aren't intended to resulting in hilarious consequences, and the list goes on. An absolutely wonderful way to waste approximately 20 hours of time for fans of the series.5Fun, fairly inexpensive, but..The game's storyline seems pretty short, given the price point of this game. Also, the extras that you can purchase are very inexpensive, but relatively pointless as they're only level 1 - 3 items and it's only a matter of twenty minutes or so before you pass this level and can use better items that are acquired during normal gameplay. That isn't to say the packs aren't worth buying, because it's cool to have the extras.. But that's really the only reason for having them. All in all, this is a pretty fun game, but if you're expecting to play something at great length, you may want to look elsewhere. After 2 days of owning the game with fairly minimal gameplay (only about 14 hours or so total time played) the main storyline seems to be completed. It's quite fun to play, but I'd hoped it'd be a longer, more in-depth game. I guess I should come to expect this from South Park games, considering most of them have been relatively short, even since the days of the Nintendo 64.5Pretty standard turn based RPG but with a South Parkian spin on everythingI've been a fan of South Park as well as Matt & Trey's other works since their start. So I guess I was kind of obligated to buy this game. I've now logged a few hours now and gotten my hero (who is by the way the "Jew" class) to level 10. My impression now is that it's actually a pretty standard turn based RPG but just with a SP spin on everything. The UI has some issues. The map is cumbersome and kludgy. The weapon/armor mod system is not well done at all. You can't view available mods at a glance, you can't tell which mods apply to which item types without first drilling into an item of that type, you can't remove mods from one item ... it's all or none, if you want to change 1 slot, you have unequip all the mods first then reconstruct them all with your 1 change with is a bit of a pain. A lot of actions during combat require specifically timed clicks and key presses which may or may not be explained to you very well (if at all), and this mechanic doesn't really seem to add anything to the game. Yet with all that being said, I still would only knock 1 star off because quite frankly I'm enjoying the **** out of this game. All the characters are in it. It's packed full of episodic references. And I do actually LOL everytime I play it. One of my hero's special moves is to circumcise his opponent. It's a very powerful move that inflicts a bleed DOT ... gotta love it. :D4Possibly the funniest game I have ever played...and I've been playing games a long time.I honestly have not laughed so hard at any game...possibly ever -- and I've been playing games since about 1984. I initially saw some of my students (college) playing this on campus (the little sneaks!), and I thought they were watching the show -- and then I noticed they were controlling it!After seeing a bit of the gameplay, I was sold...I immediately got it -- and couldn't stop playing!I am by no means a die-hard South Park watcher...in fact, I haven't seen the vast majority of episodes...but this game presents you with so many memorable moments -- and nods / set pieces from notable TV episodes -- that there is just no way you won't enjoy it.The combat might have been a bit easy (from which I think it has gotten some criticism), but I honestly can't tell you may game that will top it in pure entertainment. It nails the look of the show, the feel of the world, and the humor that the show is known for...perfectly.If you have any passing interest in South Park or that type of comedy -- at all -- you really should play this game. :)5Fans of South Park will enjoy this game immensely! RPG fans may find it simple but competent. This game was a blast to play for me, as a fan of the Comedy Central series - South Park. Crude humor that is very topical but also smart and snarky. Definitely an "M" rated game through and through with bad language, cartoon nudity and disturbing visuals. If you know who Mr. Slave is and what he has done on the show, then you can imagine what I mean. The game play is old school turn based combat where when you run into an enemy it will take you to a battle screen. There are 4 "Classes" in the game that really only affect your special moves as anyone can use any weapon. There are some "Active" battle systems in place where you need to react to cues on screen for attacks to go off or to block for reduced damage. It reminded me a lot of the game "Penny Arcade on the rain-slick precipice of darkness" which I played on the Xbox 360 as a downloadable title. There is a lot of loot and much of it is a callback to the show. Weapons, armor, upgrades, consumables... almost all of them have been mentioned in the show. I explored a lot and did not rush through the game and finished it in about 18 hours, but I was soaking it all in and have walked around after the endgame collecting items and finishing up side quests. I have 26 hours in the game with only 1 character class so far, but anyone could see most of the game and beat it in 12 - 15 hours or so.The graphics are identical to the show, which is exactly what the creators were going for. I had a few minor graphical issues that worked themselves out without restarting the game, but I have heard that some people have bigger issues. Such is life in PC gaming. It doesn't seem to require a Beefy computer to run well but perhaps it does. I run a custom built PC with a 3rd gen i5 3570K, 16GB RAM and an MSI 7870 2GB Video Card and had no real issues. Not the latest hardware by any means, but no slouch either. The story lines up with the end of a 3 part episode of the show that involves the console wars (Xbox One and PS4), Black Friday, Game of Thrones and LARPing. They are probably the best episodes of the latest season of South Park and will certainly be considered for a best of South Park compilation in the future.TL:DR - Great for fans of South Park, Not too difficult, requires a stronger PC than expected. 12 - 15 hours long5Worth it!The only reason I'm giving this game four stars instead of five is because I had some issues getting my computer to read the disk to install it, and it took forever. Also, you have to install and create an account with Steam - which I probably would've done eventually anyway, but still... I don't like to be forced. Otherwise, I haven't had any glitches or issues since. The character creation was a bit more in-depth than I expected, actually - I figured they'd just give me a pre-made generic character to run around with, but you get to choose some basics like hair, complexion, clothing and accessories. Also, you can pick a class: Warrior, Mage, Thief, or Jew. The battle action isn't as good as, say, Final Fantasy, but it's actually much better than expected: it's turn-based, you can block and counter, you can heal/use item once a turn in addition to your attack, and you've got special moves you can perform. Damage is based mostly off how you time your hits. The humor and voice acting are both on-point, and it's neat to be able to run around town. There is, of course, some brief nudity and profanity - but all in the name of comedy, I assure you! Overall, an awesome little game. Definitely worth any South Park fan's time. I've included a pic of my dorky little character.4
