This printed fairly well. It was a bit larger ...
This printed fairly well. It was a bit larger than I anticipated but that's on me considering the size is presented in the description. The frame did warp slightly after I cleaned it but that was also my fault. It should be dried flat and not leaned up and I'd forgotten to lay it down when drying it.
5Great for small projects or beginners.
If you know anything about screen printing, you know using these wooden screens areproblematic. The screen is comprised of a wooden frame, silk-like mesh fabric, and a foamy cord (like from a window frame) that holds the fabric into place. This frame can hold fine details well if burned correctly. Where I ve run into the most trouble is when cleaning the screen with emulsion remover. The cord that holds the fabric into the wood can loosen, which in turn releases the tension of the fabric. You can fix this problem with a window screen spline tool and just create the tension again by pulling he fabric. It s an excellent product if you are just dabbling in the art of screen printing, but definitely suggest an aluminum screen (but they are rather large).
4Fine, for what they are
These are good, serviceable frames. The mesh is not very fine, and the build quality is ok. The silk is tight, but not as much as it could be. Out of the half dozen I've purchased (on Amazon and local retail) one had a loose corner. I'm very much a beginner at silk screening, and these did the job for me.
4Perfect for this first timer!
This was my first experience with screen printing and this screen performed exactly as I expected! I used speedball ink and oracle 651 vinyl for my "stencil" as opposed to sublimation. My project turned out exactly as I had hoped it would. I did watch a couple of YouTube videos to make sure I was using the equipment correctly and that helped.
5Speedball Screen Printing Screen
I absolutely love this screen.
5This one came too loose, not the quality I am used to from prior experiences.
My screen arrived with a loose side, as in the mesh came out from the rubber which hold it in; the rubber was too loose. I put it back in using a flathead screwdriver, but it will never be as good as if it was correctly fitted. The prior screen lasted a few rounds. I feel this one will only last a single round or maybe two. Having a loose fitting screen is a huge no-no in making good prints. However, I have had many other products from speedball and never had an issue, so I am hoping it was a fluke.
3Not fastened well
The screen mesh is not fastened to the frame very well. The wood frame is routered, and the mesh is held into that groove with rubber cord, like what's used on a sliding screen door. Therefore the mesh it not tight, and subject to loosening as time goes on.You're better to go for the frames that have the mesh screen heavily stapled, or factory-welded onto a metal frame.Furthermore, because the frame is wood, it soaks up the water as you wash it, and it absorbs the paint as you do screening.
2Must have for screen printing
I ordered this so I could screen print shirts with paint and I am in love. Before ordering this I was using the freezer paper method and this is 1000x easier. The shirts look great and so much easier. And it's easy to clean and reuse.
My husband really enjoys using this; he has used it over and over again (replacing the mesh) to create different kinds of patches for bands that are lesser-known so that he can decorate this ugly vest he insists upon wearing out in public when he's going to artistic-type things. I love him, though, so I keep my mouth shut. At any rate... it works well and he enjoys having it.
Came with what appears like very minimal damage. The screen was loose, so I took out the hold to tighten it up and this rip is what I found. A bit disappointing, but I m gonna try and set another screen in the frame.
