Customer Reviews
OkayThis paper is so-so. I have tried A LOT of paper and Canson 1557 is by far the best! I also love pastelmat!3Great for the price! This is a pretty nice sketch pad for quick study drawing and practicing one's various sketch techniques. What is probably my favorite thing about this pad -(we bought this for one of our daughters)- is that it is spiral-bound, making it trouble-free to go back and forth between unfinished pages with very little chance of the paper coming out (as can be typical with glue-bound pads with repeated page-turning). The back of this pad is hard-ish and allows one to use this on their lap to do some casual sketching and practice -(at least until you get down to the last 30 or so pages, then it can get bendy and "iffy" from that point)- without needing a table or alternate hard surface to bear down on beneath. While the papers are sprial-bound, each page has a smooth line perforation in case the artist wants to cleanly remove any pages from the pad. The paper itself is good for this price range, it's got a very slight tooth, and is pretty sturdy for what it is, as long as it's not excessively erased or very heavily blended with blending stumps. The paper stands up well to normal sketching and with 100 sheets of paper, should bring any artist (using dry media) several hours of practice/sketching pleasure.5Perfect, as expected!!Very nice to draw on and high quality. I like that the spiral is on the top and doesn't interfere with my drawing. I will buy again.5Nice paperI'm just starting out with drawing so I'm not sure what kind of paper is the best but this worked pretty well for me. I noticed the paper had tiny, tiny indents on it which can be good or bad (sometimes it's annoying because of shading-the led can get caught in the little indents so it's darker/lighter which sometimes leaves tiny marks that are hard to wipe out). It's not a big problem but I noticed it.I didn't really like that the paper tears off at the top part of the sheet. I wanted to keep my drawings in the notebook but both of the 2 drawings I've made so far tore off without me trying to tear them off. I was gentle too so, be aware of that.I do like this paper, I was able to draw a nice picture anyways so it's fine. I would recommend it.4Exactly what you'd expectThis is a middle of the line, medium weight pad for drawing and doodling. It's exactly what you'd expect and nothing more. If you want a no-frills notebook to draw in, but one that's not full of cheap paper, look no further. This is your notepad. It's perfect for doodling with pen, even marker, but it's not so heavy that a sharpie cant bleed through. You've been warned. Overall, very happy though, as Amazon sold this for a dollar cheaper than my local art store!5Strathmore is the gold standard in paper. In art school this is the brand that was always recommended above all others. It is Acid free meaning it won't yellow with age. It is good quality. Strathmore makes a wide variety of weights and types of paper even some that use recycled materials (see the ones with the green covers). This pad has a nice thick weight suitable for a finished drawing piece, albeit small only 9x12. Good for carrying in a bag with you when you are on the go. They also make a smaller sizes than this if you like portable.I use this also for inks and it takes them quite well.5Supreme paper at an affordable priceI'm a professional artist. This paper has a nice weight and tooth. beautiful warm cream color. Excels with graphite use. Tough enough to stand up to multiple erasures, layers of graphite, burnishing, rubbing, and tortilon (Stump) usage. Paper will not yellow over time and is suitable for fine art drawings. This paper should not be confused as mere sketch paper. Sketch paper is just for that, sketching. This is drawing paper for finished drawings.5Purchased as a charity giftThis was purchased for a child aged 8 to 12 during the holiday season. This was a donation.5MehI bought this to use as a journal because Strathmore doesn't make a Sketch book in the 8x10 size and the 5.5x8.5 size is way too small.1. The paper is nice and heavyweight, a little too dark ivory for my taste, but okay.2. The spiral is way too small so after flipping the pages over a couple of times they are already falling out. I'm not sure why they did this because in the left spiral notebooks the spiral is large enough. Same for the 300 series in the 9x12 size.3. Only 24 pages so it isn't going to last long.3Reasonable price, great quality, pretty pleased. This is great paper for drawing. It s perfect for practice pieces or professional pieces. Works lovely with charcoal or graphite. We bought this as an add-on product and are quite pleased with it. Strathmore is a great brand for papers and art. Also, I like how they keep good quality for a reasonable price.5
