    Crocheter's New Best Friend I was in need of this set so I could crochet a new pattern I recently acquired. Admittedly, I usually purchase the metal hooks as I felt they had a better weight ratio and felt better in the hand. I also felt that the metal hooks came 'nick' free. Two years ago I purchased a set of metal hooks that were the poorest quality I've ever seen. They felt hollow, thin and most came with sharp points at the tips. The sharp points in turn catch on the yarn and tend to pull the strands apart; they even frizz the yarn at times. It was one of the most frustrating purchases I've ever made. I now understand why those sets can be sold so cheaply.When I received this in the mail I was skeptical at best. But, when I opened the package and took up the hook, I was amazed at how solid it felt. I ran my hand up and down the tool. It was as smooth as butter. I smiled because I knew I had found my new best friend.Crochet Hook Pros:Comes in a package of 4Solid, balanced hooksSmooth, without any dents, nicks or pointsDoesn't tire out the hand easilyComes in 4 different colorsEach hook has their size clearly marked on the endCrochet Hook Cons:I didn't find out about these sooner ;) 5Well Made and Priced Well I wasn't sure how I was going to like these since I'm use to the metal ones but I actually love them! They feel like a good hard plastic and are easy to work with. I've done several projects with them already and they don't hurt my fingers and work just about as well as the metal ones. They are such a great price too! Totally recommend if you need all these sizes and don't want to spend a ton of money. 5Solid product They're light and easy to use. But the hook seems poorly made as I drop yarn more with these than my metal ones. I do like the flat bottom though, and they're comfortable to hold. 3Good quality for the price I bought this set because I needed a larger size hook for bulky yarn. I felt like these were a bit too slippery for my taste. I would rather have a nicer set with aluminum, but these were cheap and they work. They do feel well made and are comfortable enough to crochet with. Just takes getting use to if you don't always crochet with acrylic hooks 4An amazing set, easy to grip, smooth as a dream! Due to sensory issues, I use the Bernat bulky and super bulky yarns a lot because they don't itch. Finding a good, large hook to crochet with has been a pain, but this set is amazing! Very easy to use, grabs the yarn and pulls through without losing it nearly as often as my other larger hooks, and I just really adore it. In addition, I have to say that I have arthritic hand issues, and this is not nearly as taxing, and I can crochet for longer. All in all, I'm thrilled with this set!(images included: hand/wrist warmer in Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, Funny Prints color, both in progress and completed.) 5All in all they're really nice and I would suggest them for kids that are ... Very lightweight and warm in your hand! They're a bit different from standard Susan Bates hooks, however. They look similar at a glance, but I did test the US L11/8.00mm out in my Knit-Check and while the regular metal hook fit perfectly, the Crystallites hook struggled to go in. All in all they're really nice and I would suggest them for kids that are learning crochet. 5Beautiful Crochet Hooks! I started to crochet a Harry Potter sorting hat last week just to discover I didn't have any hooks that were remotely big enough! It was one of many things that I hadn't replace since we lost everything in a house fire a year ago.. So I found these and placed my order. I absolutely love them! I didn't have these before, I had the typical metal type, like the other hooks I currently have. I'd always wanted them, I just never felt the need to have a bunch of duplicates. I wish I had purchased them years ago however because they are so beautiful! I'm looking forward to starting work on my hat! Thanks so much! 5Great for a beginner When I began my journey of learning to crochet (still learning so I can't say I'm done yet by far) I used a different brand of hooks. The pointed top and inline head of Susan Bates hooks made a huge difference for me - I almost gave up using the half-hearted curvy hooks that wouldn't push through a stitch I made too tight (yarn tension can be a challenge at first) or hold onto the yarn while I tried to yarn over. I have read that the brand of hook you prefer depends on how you crochet, but these improved my ability to crochet dramatically - I almost gave up using the other brand.I like Susan Bates hooks even more after buying this particular set. My original set was smaller sizes in metal, but I find I really like the oversized plastic hooks. They are light and with bulky yarn and a large hook you can make a LOT of progress in a short time. I don't keep them in the plastic package as it doesn't look like it would wear well, but they have the mm and letter size engraved on the bottom of the handle so you don't have to worry about forgetting what size hook you have. 5hard to find large crochet hook set Large crochet hooks are hard to come by. I find wooden hooks can catch the yarn and are not so reliable for the actual size. These large plastic hooks have a smooth surface. I find they are as easy to use as the smaller aluminum hooks I have. Great to make fluffy blankets from bulky yarn. 5DON'T BUY THE GROUPING! They show what is supposed to be 3 different Crochet hook packs. The 12409 and the 82409 are EXACTLY the same! Save your money, unless you are giving one set as a gift, even then, just choose 2 of the lesser price. I gave this a 1 star due to duplicity. 1
