    Dull performanceThis piece has been my favorite violin concerto for decades. I played this CD for my 24- year-old son in hopes of exciting his interest in classical music... And realized that some performances are simply not very good. This was an embarrassing moment... I have to buy another CD with some spirit and performance magic. It seemed to be missing the intensity that I have heard with some other interpretations. Some passages seemed even a bit sterile. My favorite was on a cassette tape that I bought in the 1970s that I lost some years back and I believe it was by a Russian or an eastern European symphony. If you are purest when it comes to Russian composers then I would say skip this one.3Five StarsTremendous performance.5Love Mutter. I bought this CD since she is ...Love Mutter. I bought this CD since she is coming to Chicago this weekend. The CSO website says she will sign her CD, so it ll be so meaning full to get an autograph of Mutter on Tchaikovsky Concerto CD after she plays the same piece with CSO. Unfortunately, I can't give her 4 stars since little bit disappointed at the first movement. It sounds she isn't really stable when she was playing this piece.4
