Customer Reviews

beautiful, moving musicwonderful, heartfelt music! The story she is telling through the music comes through clearly, it's a story we all know deep inside. Well done!5wonderfully portraying the mood and emotions of the broader storyThe Woman Astronaut is a new solo orchestral album from Hollywood composer Penka Kouneva. As with her previous album, A Warrior's Odyssey, I found it to be engaging and moving, wonderfully portraying the mood and emotions of the broader story, lending it the feeling of a modern tone poem. I found myself particularly drawn to the track entitled Looking Up, which I listened to several times. Looking forward to the next album!5Astronautically pleasing, an adventure in sound!Far-out, great composing, original score. Worthy !5Would really like to see a movie made based on itHave been listening to this soundtrack over and over. Would really like to see a movie made based on it.5Five Starsi am newly exploring modern classical music and am really enjoying this CD!5Awesome !Penka's work is both original and timeless. I enjoy hearing these songs over and over with my Bose headphones.Fantastic work and major accomplishment for any composer....Awesome !5Five StarsThis is awesome music! I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi type movie soundtracks.5I was not disappointed!Good music!5Going beyondThis whole record is powerful; it s about the power of space, the Earth and the fantastic avenues they open to the adventurer. LAND OF THE BURNING FIELDS, ALARM AND RESCUE, INSOMNIA, GOODBYES IN ZERO GRAVITY; all these allow the imagination run into space seeking out what lies beyond what the eye can see. SOLAR FLAME is strong- just like the Sun, right in the middle of the solar system. Exquisite arrangements, and fantastic production one of the highlights of the year!5Thrilling!Absolutely one of the most exciting and thrilling modern compositions that I have ever heard! Penha Kouneva has created a musical masterpiece for the 21st Century. Several of the cuts easily could be theme songs for NASA--or something that Stanley Kubrick might have used in "2001: A Space Odyssey." Indeed, it takes little imagination to listen to cuts and picture a mighty Saturn V rocket ponderously lifting off into the heavens above Cape Kennedy! Without going into great, technical detail, I can say (as only a listener, not a music critic) that, quite beyond the women in space-theme, Kouneva's work is soaring and inspiring. It lifts the listener into realms of light and majesty. I listen to the entire album over and over and never tire of it.5
