Customer Reviews

Tt eSport Ventus X Optical reviewNumbers are on a 1-10 scaleTested on: QCK HeavyMinor Testing on: Roccat Taito 2017Sensor/Tracking: 10Nothing to really expect it does the job, there's tons of 3360 info threads around for you to read more details.Mouse Feet: 5-6No major gliding problems but the skates are quite thin and it does make some scraping noise on the mousepad. Not the best glide and not the worst glide.Cable: 6It's ok, it's braided so it comes with the downside of a small amount of drag especially when doing vertical movements. I don't notice it too much. I still prefer rubberized cable or a braided cable that can be kinked properly into place. Cables are a pain really. Used with a camadeShape: 8A larger EC1-A with a flattter right side - I wouldn't mind if the right side flared out a tiny bit as that would make my pinky have to arch less but regardless the shape is quite good. Be warned this is for larger hands but despite that I never really used it in a full palm grip as that felt strange. It was more of a half palm with some clawingWeight: 6-7While it's light the large size and weight can fatigue you depending on your sensitivity settings and game - I could get 5 hours of playtime in without much issue but eventually I did feel some minor strain from swinging it around too much. This varies from game to game and from gamer to gamer (depending how high or low your sensitivity is, so the lower you use the more strain you may feel - but I use lower than most so a lot of you should be ok) (I'm around 51cm/360 sometimes 57)Response Times: 10Super responsive right/left click, feels like it registers as soon as the button is pressed. You can adjust this in the software. I do not have the tools to measure click latency properly - however you can have no doubt that it registers fast enough you cannot find any complaint about it.LOD (Lift-Off-Distance): 10Can be adjusted from aprox 1~ CD to 2~CD ish.. depends on your mousepad. Any issues tracking try changing it from high to low or etcCoating/Grips: 7Side grips are always grippy, no wear shown/felt in a weeks use. Top coating is some type of matte plastic? Basically the more warm/heated up your hand is the more grippy the top part gets - but if your hand is dry for example you washed your hand with warm water and soap then dried it - the top coating will become lessy grippy until your hands begin to warm up/oil again. Side grips are always grippy no matter if dry hands or not. I cannot say if the mouse would be better without the side grips or not - maybe?Scroll Wheel: 8-9No issues, I enjoy it. Sort of a fast scroll with a small amount of feedback. It's easy to click inward - didn't use it too much in-gameM1/M2: 7A bit on the stiffer side - not a bad click but definitely requires a deliberate minimum force. Basically compare a black cherry keyboard to a red cherry or something similar - they require more 'force' to make the button actuate. I don't think you will accident click with this mouse - while it's fine I give it a 7 cause it just didn't give me a real clicking satisfaction like some other mice do.Side buttons: 7They work fine but the placement/shape/size of them is a bit off.. Not sure how to describe it but it's not that easy to click smooth side button you have on most gaming mice and rather a more outward or sharp feeling side button. Does the job though.Software: 5It has a lot of good features and works - however it's not intuitive at all and basically you have to already know gaming mice software to understand it - plus search around for random settings.. for example disabling on-screen OSD can only be found via right-clicking the software in system tray yet is completely unavailable in any other part of the software. I've also had the software crash when messing with the LEDs. You can adjust the click-delay, LOD, angle snapping, report rate, and set 5 different dpi levels for one profile in the software. You can also import/export profiles, create new ones, and delete old ones. You can have up to 5 profiles although I don't know why you'd need so many because you can already have 5 different dpi levels on one profile. I guess you could make a different LOD profile for different types of mousepadsPrice: 9 or 10Didn't feel ripped off buying the mouse, a really easy price to take in. I don't know what it costs to produce these units and how much companies need to make a decent ROI but I'm used to spending a boat load by now. Conclusion:Overall I really enjoy the mouse and perform well with it - I don't think it will be my main driver forever because I'm sure something better will come along in the future - my main concerns is the thin mouse feet and size/weight ratio as I can definitely feel it putting some minor strain on my wrist during wrist motions. Bigger mice make some movements easier but other movements (like aiming upward to the left) a little harder (depends on sensitivity/sensor position?) The cable is a minor hindrance. But if you're in the market for a larger EC with a 3360 this is a decent buy for sure. I'll keep a look out at TTesports gear in the future as well.4Design flawsIt does not work well with mice with heavier-than-average and/or soft cords like the Logitech Pro's, because the weight of the cord drags the top and neck of the "arm" down. As seen in the product picture, the arm points straight forward instead of upward. This design flaw is the cause of the problem. When I attach any mice's cords on the arm, the arm curves downward causes the cord to touch and drag on the desk surface. This would be the best mouse bungee out there if the arm was an inch taller and there is a trench to run the cord underneath the base before attaching it to the arm, or make it so that the arm points upward to compensate for the weight of the cord.I have to be creative to get the cord of my mouse from barely touching the desk surface, like rolling the mouse one rotation to make a loop on the cord. I am keeping and using this, but I highly do not recommend other people to purchase this.3Good quality mouse with a few frivolous add-onsI purchased this mouse almost exclusively for the venting at the base, as my hands get super sweaty when playing computer games.Pros:Venting works! Reduces palm sweat!Good tracking & fast refreshDecently well-madeGood 'feel'Solid click switches.Durable wrapped Cord with a cord-tie built in.High Quality PTFE Feet'Sniper' button is kind of neatCons:The top left buttons are basically impossible to hit in a standard mouse position.Old school middle mouse wheelVentus Z Software is from Taiwan or something and is super clunky compared to Razer software.Porous plastic coating feels cheapRGB seems like an afterthought and not purposeful.Could use even more venting or a small fan instead of RGB4Had lots of potential but failed miserably.I really wanted this mouse to replace my G502; it had the potential to do so but, failed miserably. First off, the Ventus Z isPROS:1. The button layout is identical to the g502 only easier to reach and click/press.2. Scroll button easier to click than on the G502.3. able to assign macros to the mouse buttons and has repeating macros.Thats it.CONS:1. The way the left and right click buttons are designed is really flawed. This is not an ambidextrous mouse but yet the the left and right click buttons look and feel like they are made for a left handed person. Really confusing.2. Gaming mice should be heavy (in my opinion) and this mouse is lightweight even with the non-customizable weights it has.3. Scroll wheel does not have enough of a mechanical feel and it is very easy to "overscroll". this is not good in a game where you use the scroll wheel to change your weapons.4. It only has a right click on the scroll button and it performs the same function as pushing the scroll button down. ??? I don't get that one.5. No instructions and no support.6. No I don't know if it is the software that is full of bugs or the on-board memory just sucks but, Getting macros to work is nearly impossible. Once you make a macro you simply cannot edit it as it will not write it to the on-board memory. You need to figure out (which I did) how to be able to get the macro onto the mouse. There are apply and ok buttons in two different sections and if you don't press both in both sections it simply wont record it. The software is really clunky.CONCLUSION: I cannot recommend this mouse the a serious or even casual gamer. It has A LOT of potential as the size and button layout is practically perfect but, unless those other things I mentioned are redesigned and fixed, this thing is useless.1Great mouse from a budding companyWhen I buy my mouse and keyboard, I look for one that not only looks stylish on my desk and feels comfortable, but also stands up to the test of time. My first gaming mouse was a Logitech MX518. Lasted me about two years before the cable got damaged ( just from normal use) and had to replace it with a Razer Deathadder. My Deathadder lasted me about 3 years before the left click and middle click went fault. Instead of buying another Deathadder I thought I would give the Theron a shot, despite Thermaltake just really catching my eye in the competitive RTS scene. The mouse feels good. Its meant to be useable for left and right handed gamers, and has buttons on each side of the mouse. This did take some getting use too, but with my wrist rest and claw grip, it only took a couple days to adjust. It has a very forgiving weight system, so you can remove any of the six weights to add your desired glide pattern. I found it best with no weight. The software is a little intrusive, but it does a good job at mapping everything on the mouse to your settings. Each individual light zone can be adjusted, so your mouse can be unicolor, or 4 different colors at once. Also has a strobing effect on the palm rest which looks magnificent. The mouse is a tad smaller than my previous two, but its still a good size to comfortably hold. Palm grip users might find their fingers extending past the edge of the mouse buttons, but I don't have this problem. Design is you see what you get. This thing just looks intimidating, but doesn't overdo it so it looks like a childrens toy. Every bit of the aesthetics also has a reason for being there.Great mouse overall. I wouldn't consider it a better mouse then the Deathadder, but it was a welcome change of pace. The added buttons are very useful, although some games don't recognize the right-side side button, but seeing as that I'm not an mmo player, it doesn't bother me.I should note that the first mouse I received had a defective laser, but Amazon was very, very good about replacing it for me. My new one works like a charm! Any other problems and there is a manufacturer warranty.4Probably the Best Bungee for High Sensitivity / Low Movement MousersWhile the plastic and rubber design isn't as nice looking and it lacks the tension/height adjustment of Zowie/BenQ's bungee, it's a perfectly functional design at a lower price point. The full length cable channel makes cable slippage less likely than on some designs, the rubber is just the right level of flexibility, and the base is properly heavy to resist pulling. This is the only design that I've seen which is able to maintain function even down to a height of about 2.5cm off the desk surface if you have limited vertical space (cubby/shelf, low monitor frame, etc.) with the front of the rubber nearly touching the base.5If you feel you need a mouse bungee, I highly recommend this particular one. Thermaltake pleases as always!I read up a lot on mouse bungees before buying one (was really trying to decide if I even needed one). I am a bit of a Razer fanboy so of course I looked at the Razer mouse bungee, but eventually decided against that one based on a lot of different people saying it doesn't work well with braided cables (which seems weird to me since their flagship mice all have braided cables, but enough people said it so oh well). I pretty much decided on the scorpion style mouse bungee over the spring style (Razer one is spring style). If any of this is confusing you, 5 minutes on Google will clear up what I am talking about. I chose scorpion style because it seems to be more robust (and makes sense as to why, the material experiencing the flexion is stronger). The spring styles offer more lift off the table and more mouse travel with the wire tighter (if you research it, you'll understand what I mean). But on the other hand most people find those bungees to be more finicky. After looking at plenty of scorpion style bungees, I decided on this one. High ratings, relatively low cost, simple but robust looking design, and from a company I trust were all reasons I landed on this one. I could not be happier. The unit itself is rather small (in a good way) yet the base is nice and heavy (really like a large good looking paperweight) which keeps it in place. The neck just pops right into place: it's basically a press fit hole with a magnet, in other words its really difficult to pull out by using a mouse, but very easy to disassemble when pulling the neck out from above. The neck slot perfectly fits my Razer Naga's braided cable. It took a few times to adjust it how much slack to leave in the cable (I suggest moving your mouse to the farthest reach on your mouse pad or other surface and placing the cable in the neck so that it is taut at that point). This thing is very convenient as it keeps the cable from ever snagging on the back edge of my desk or from me running into the slack during use. Overall very well made and yet simplistic product.TL;DR: Fairly low comparative price, clean and simple look to it, robust design, keeps my mouse cable at the perfect length at all times with no snags or slack getting in the way.5One of the best mice for around $20I purchased the Talon Blu mouse for FPS games (mainly CS:GO) and use it on my Corsair MM200 mouse pad for a reference point and had been using it as my daily mouse for over a month straight.UPDATE 8/07/16: Made a second purchase since my first review. Should be arriving tomorrow and I will be leaving my feedback again for the new purchase.UPDATE 9/27/16: Repeat satisfaction with my second purchase! This time no powerful smell came from the mouse upon opening. It's been about a month now and everything is still working perfectly. As a result of my careless acts last time I can say that the damage was done by me and not by the quality of components inside. Bumped up to 5 stars!ORIGINAL REVIEW:Pros:-Cheap: $20 for this mouse is a steal and competes very well with higher priced mice in terms of performance.-Good sensor: I have had absolutely zero tracking issues via fast flicks with this AVAGO 3050 sensor-Size: Fits my hand nicely, would say it fits small to medium size hands well-Lightweight: Mouse is extremely light without feeling cheap-Nice texture: All the buttons and the body itself have a nice texture-Good click response: All 5 buttons have extremely satisfying clicks for the amount paid (see below for scroll wheel however)-Lighting: Lighting has 3 modes (Off, Breathing, and Constantly on) The mode can be cycled through by holding left click and pressing the DPI button located behind the scroll wheel. This same feature is available on the non-blu version of the mouse as well.Cons:-Initial smell: Not sure what the hell they put on this mouse but it smells worse than burnt rubber for the a few days. For all I know I have lead poisoning now. Only reason I am taking a star off.-Only 2 pads: The two large pads on the bottom of the mouse do make it a nice glide across cloth pads but they felt better after break in.-Scroll wheel: Nice scrolling action but a somewhat tough click actionI won't count this as a con per say as it came as a result of my carelessness, but after only dropping the mouse 1 time from around 3.5ft onto a hardwood floor there have been severe connection issues with this mouse and it is practically unusable. Whether if it's up to cheap internals or the damage was in fact a result of my stupidity I cannot say.Regardless I am planning on purchasing another one of these with no intent of breaking it again as this mouse is fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap mouse, especially those who game.5Greatly compatible and has a quality feel!I'm happy to have purchased this mouse! I highly appreciate having the option to unscrew and remove either side bracket - I took off the one on the left (so that my thumb has a little groove).I use this mouse for gaming and for other circumstances where I need a wired mouse. It has no compatibility issues with Linux.I'm not a professional gamer, but, I'll say some things I noticed and you can correct me if you noticed differently:Scroll wheel feels good, it has a mildly texturized rubber strip around it, it notches effortlessly, it has no loose feeling at allQuality of rubber and plastic on the body: excellentAll of the buttons are solid and will last a long timeThe top sensitivity has no acceleration nor correctionLiftoff distance is at most 2 dvd'sIf you're lefty or southpaw, it's possible to open up the mouse and remove the side buttons from inside. Not user-friendly, but at least you don't need any special screwdriver, just a regular crossheadI have average sized hands for a dude- always struggling to choose between L or XL when looking at gloves - and I use this mouse in a fingertip grip most of the time, but switch to palm if I'm gaming. Feels good in both scenariosAlso, the packaging is box-shaped. Stackable, unlike logitech packaging. The internal protective case is shaped specifically for this mouse, absolutely great for shipping or storing the mouse in the future.Be sure to look up a review where they mention how to change the LED modes, as the instructions on the box aren't exactly there! Basically, you hit the DPI button plus one of the other buttons! What else can I say? I needed something compatible and versatile, and the Tt Talon did not disappoint. Everything about having bought this mouse felt like quality and great value, my expectations were exceeded, I was not expecting to enjoy an ambidextrous mouse this much5Good change of pace!I've used nothing but Logitech for probably a decade, so this is a big change for me! I had pretty much sold myself on this mouse at it's current price but had some points to spend and got a big discount, despite that I think it's worth it at the 60 dollar range. Took a bit to get used the feel of it, think: riding a bike with different shoes on. I'm not too picky when it comes to this aspect, I make a choice and go with it. The feel is good for my semi-large hand, 11k dpi is just insane, feels right at 5k for me, the software is simple to work with and the lighting is cool and adds a nice touch of color next to a G710+ Keyboard.I'm not used to all the extra buttons but they have already come in handy, I've always used my mouse for voice comms because it fits my gaming style far more. Instead of using a forward/back button to key up in discord I can use the sniper key or w/e it's called simply because I never do ingame dpi switching. It's a lot more comfortable to use that button than any other, which is great! Otherwise having the ability to map several functions to the mouse is always helpful. The idea that it's a cooler mouse in the hand? I don't know... I think that's just a gimmick, but with the purpose of displaying the lighting through the hex palm rest. Guess what, this mouse will get dirty like every other if you don't wipe it down with some alcohol or something from time to time.Lastly the paracord wrapped cord and velcro tie are a nice touch, honestly there isn't much missing here. This is another part of the PC market that has expanded a ton in terms of quality and features... lot of cool choices in this price range, but for me it didn't disappoint.I'll update if it decides to stop working prematurely.5
