Customer Reviews
Highly recommend! Great budget gaming keyboard
I've had this keyboard for months, and I actually use it in the daytime for my corporate office job, and at night for game development (writing scripts). Needless to say, I am constantly typing. What makes this keyboard my absolute favorite is that it has a very pleasant light, yet springy response, and it is a very effortless experience. Macro keys are surprisingly handy for working in excel, makes doing redundant things like copy/paste, ctrl-F, alt+tab and autofitting Excel sheets a breeze. It lacks the clickity clack and direct feedback a mechanical keyboard has, but for a $60 keyboard /mouse combo it is excellent. The mouse gets the job done, could have some more weight to it, but over all it works well. The DPI switch seems more of a gimmick to me, as it's not really usable in a game setting, as I'd have to click through all the settings to get to the one I had before.Overall, I think the keyboard is worth the price on its own, and I'm considering getting a second set.
5Macro key functionality leaves something to be desired
The keyboard it self seems to be a good product for the price. It has a decent feel and response. HOWEVER the macro programming leaves something to be desired. You cannot hit a macro key while pressing any other key.I For Example: In game moving forward you typically hold the "w" key down. While that key is down there is no macro function. You must let up and then hit the macro key you have programmed for the macro to execute. I had to research this long and hard to find an answer and had I know it in advance I would not have purchased this keyboard. This may not bother you but it annoys the heck out of me in some games. I'm sorry but for that reason alone I wouldn't buy this again
2quality is high end
bought this for my son and couldnt be more pleased. i personally have the logitech g510, and i would definitely buy this thermaltake as a replacement (granted i like ldc screens on my keyboard). the keys are nice to type on. the backlight is very nice. although i would like more colors, the 3 it can change to are very nice. I would definitely recommend this over another cheap alternative.
5Simply Amazing
Thoroughly impressed. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from such a cheap gaming keyboard; I only bought this to use while I saved up for a Razer. However, after actually using this, I have decided to actually stick with this.Pros:-Backlight looks cool. Makes it look like its worth more than what it's actually worth. Brightness and color can be adjusted easily.-More macros than you can shake a stick at...okay, only 6. But hey, thats more than most people need anyways.-Feels nicer than your average mushy membrane keyboard. Still no where near a real mechanical keyboard, but on the spectrum of membrane keyboards? This is near the top.-Overall build quality does NOT feel like a cheap 25 dollar keyboard.Cons:-Near the top right, there is a red Thermaltake logo. The color of this can not be changed, it is not a backlit logo;its just printed on. If you are going to use the red lighting on this, it looks fine;even enhances the look. But I use the blue, and it stands out like a sore thumb.-Very minor thing, but the big knob in the middle is for adjusting the brightness of the LEDs, instead of the volume. This is just a bit weird, as the volume is usually the big knob on most keyboards. Again, very minor, but I will have to get used to this.Final thoughts: If you are on a budget, and don't care too much about the cons...buy this.
5Unstable and constantly disconnects.
It was an amazing keyboard at first. And when it actually works, it lives up to that title. But over the course of the last month or so, the cord seems to be internally disconnecting or shaking or something, because with even the slightest movement of the cord connecting to the computer via USB, the keyboard immediately disconnects. As well as if I just leave the keyboard sitting completely still for any period of time. I've unscrewed the bottom/back of the keyboard and duct-taped the cord in place, in an effort to maintain the technological stability. But it was futile, as the issue persists very strongly. I genuinely just sat in my chair just now for a solid 18 seconds as my keyboard, which is sitting in my lap, disconnected and reconnected rapidly to an unusable degree. If I could replace it or receive a refund, I'd have executed that option awhile ago, as I cannot find a fix anywhere online and now have to pay out of pocket to find a stable, functioning keyboard.
12 bad units. Bad windows key on both, squeaky squeaky keys.
This is the second one I have had, one under warranty with a problem on the first day I received it. The Windows key would not work. Checked all of my settings, checked to make sure it wasn't some strange software issue. No solution. They sent me a new one really quick, and sent it before I had to send the other one back so I had a keyboard. It is now a month or so later, and this second keyboard has the Windows key failed, and it squeaks like the buttons are worn out. Its REALLY REALLY annoying as I type this.I was so excited for this, but now am frustrated because I can not return it any longer. Skip it, buy a Razer or something else. Just ordered a Razer for the same price.
2Don't Buy This Keyboard!!!!
I've taken apart logitec keyboards to fix sticking keys. You can't take this one apart if you remove a certain screw with a sticker that says do not remove your keyboard with not work AGAIN!!!!!! I thought this sticker was a quality control sticker!! The reason I took the keyboard apart was to fix a stuck metal bracket on the SPACE KEY! I fixed it upon putting it back together I relized the sticker over top the bottom screw said DO NOT REMOVE was not a quality control sticker.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. WHAT KIND OF KEYBOARD MANUFACTURER DOESN'T ALLOW THEIR CUSTOMERS ACCESS TO THE INSIDE OF THEIR KEYBOARDS TO FIX STICKY OR STUCK KEYS!!! STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM THIS ONE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!! IF THE MANUFACTURER WANTS THIS POST TAKEN DOWN THEY BETTER NOTIFY ME AND POST THE FIX TO THIS ISSUE!!! WHAT CAN YOU DO WITHOUT A SPACE KEY!!!!!!
1Not recommended for daily gaming, a basic keyboard really.
SO I have just about 2 months with this keyboard and as a gaming keyboard it has some issues both aesthetics and functional. I have to mention that I have the Blue + mouse combo. First it's big it uses too much space which is a problem if you don't have drawer for the keyboard in your computer desk. The wrist rest area can be uncomfortable. About the mouse if you computer is in sleep mode the blue light stays on quite annoying if you workstation is in the bedroom. The keyboard is loud and noisy. In my keyboard the F1 key always get stuck when press down. also keys w,a,s,d paint is coming off to the point I can see through them. The next combination of keys make certain keys unresponsive:if s+d are being pressed, then y,i,p.',],7,9,u+i+o don't respond. The previous lack of key respond can make for a bad experience especially when playing fighting games. Also nothing about this keyboard has anything with gaming in mind, any basic keyboard will do as well if not better, with a low profile to boot.
2I can pretty much push it all the way down without it ...
The keyboard has a lot of what I wanted: backlit, media keys, num pad. The keys themselves are a bit mushy, but that isn't a big deal to me. The deal breaker is the spacebar, it takes too much force to press. I can pretty much push it all the way down without it registering as a click meaning I can be typing normally and it will miss the press sometimes. This is obviously annoying and a dealbreaker for keyboard. The ends seem to be okay so it doesn't have the issue where you click the side it won't register, it just seems to not make contact without being FULLY pressed. I've tried taking the key off and futzing with it without any real luck. None of the other keys seem to have this issue, once they go past a certain point they register the keystroke like expected, it is just the space that seems to need to be bottomed out before it will register. So hopefully mine is just a bad one and yours will be perfect.
2Love the feel
I wanted a back-lit keyboard since I tent to forget to turn lights on when it gets dark. Not a big fan of bright lights. Anyways, I very much like this keyboard. I love the blue color too much to change it to purple or red. I like that the central knob can dim/turn off the lights, but I leave them on pretty much all the time. The keys are what I would call soft. Not mechanical in any way. I enjoy soft keys. The only thing that really takes getting used to is the column of keys on the left-side. It throws me off when I'm placing my hands on the keyboard. I bought it for my casual gaming, but I use it for everything. I'm a writer and I've been writing most of my stuff with it lately. Just a nice decently priced keyboard.Update: it's been over a year and I love this keyboard. It's still in as great of a shape as the day it arrived and I love typing on it. I'm completely smashing my word count during this year's NaNoWriMo and I do most of my writing on this keyboard. The backlight still works great and I love the feel of the keys. I tend to switch keyboard around, mostly because I can, and it puts my hands in slightly different positions, but I always come back to this one. The keys are very light and take little effort to press, which I notice because I switch around. I just love it.
