    These reeds rock!My wife swears by these! Great buy for sure for those that are serious about their sax playing.5Used as favortite reedOkay, I have been playing alto sax for nearly seven years, now. I have tried many reed brands, from regular Ricos and Vandorens to random no names. When I heard about this reed being a jazz reed, I was like, well, what the heck? When I opened it up, it played brilliantly. The reed was not airy or scratchy sounding at all. I use this reed now for all types of playing. The typical lifespan of one reed, used everyday, is about one month. I rotate my reeds so they last longer, and I still get that new sound whenever I play with these reeds. I have tried this reed with multiple mouthpieces, including the Jody Jazz classical mouthpiece, Selmer 80 and 90, Yamaha 4c, and many other mouth pieces.5Seller was fantastic. Vandoren has gone down immensely in qualitySeller was fantastic. Vandoren has gone down immensely in quality. I played at a high level for several years using Vandoren. I haven't played in about 4 years and just started up again, was able to use about 4 of these reeds when before I use to get 6-7 gig playable reeds per box. Just looking at the butt of the stock I could tell they would be bad from the start because both sides were drastically different size heights. One reed was nearly double the height of another side. This lead to terribly uneven heart and no playability or consistency on a recordable level.3Made For Great Sound QualityTop quality. Makes the instrument sound better. Highly recommend! As she progressed the reeds changed in hardness. This reed seems to work well for her for now, as she is in the jazz band and this is a jazz reed. I've used a wide variety of cane and synthetic reeds for the past few years, but recently discovered the Vandoren JAVA works best for me. The key words in that last sentence were "works best for me." The reason there is such a mind-boggling variety reeds made from various materials in various ways and packaged in different manners (although packaging has nothing to do with playability), suggests the individual taste that attends the selection of a reed.5The play great once you break them in.These have been my reeds of choice for over 25 years! Depending on my mouthpiece, I use a 2.5 or 3. They have a nice response once theyre really broken in and for me they add a nice edge and body to the sound. They are a little expensive though. Once in a while you can find a great deal and thats the best time to grab them!5Great reeds...Son plays the sax in high school and goes thru reeds. He loves Vandoren reeds. Score!!5What can you say about reeds?A box of 10 reeds generally gives me 5-7 workable reeds; same as most other brands, and those that work sound great. Messing with reeds sometimes makes me wish I were a trumpet player, though.5Does the trickJavas do the trick.
