Customer Reviews
Did not lastFor some reason this mute just never worked very well for my daughter. I am not sure if we got a lemon or if it was just cheaply made. It never fit quite right and now some of the cork camp off making it nearly impossible to keep it in the bell.3Nearly silent, making it hard to use. This thing shuts down the airflow almost completely and I couldn't hear what note I was playing. So, using a razor blade, I cut a 1/4" channel through the cork. Now I can get enough sound out of it to hear what I'm playing. Wife can still sleep in the next room. And, I can play my entire range with it. Before, trying to play above the staff was a waste of time.3Great practice mute! It's one of the best practice mutes out there, as practice mutes go. It gets a little stuffy in the high register with big air. I won't give it five stars because the practice mute, in general, has yet to be perfected. They are, by definition, a compromise. We'd rather to never have need of one, however, if you must have one, why not get one that can fit in the bell or elsewhere in a gig bag so that it's always convenient when you just want to blow a few notes and get things warmed up as a matter of keeping in shape? This mute is proof that practice mutes don't need to be very large at all to be useful and effective.4Excellent practice muteExcellent practice mute, very similar to the well regarded Best Brass mute which costs 3 times more and actually is not much better than this ! Very quite, average to low backpressure, good intonation. Unbeatable for the price. If you are looking for a practice mute with almost no backpressure, I suggest you the FAXX compact oractice mute. Similar to this one in a shape, but a bit louder.5Small compact designJust bought this practice mute. I can play all I want without bothering anyone in the house. It stays in my horn and doesn't fall out.I was very surprised when it arrived. I had no idea that it was "compact", and didn't know if I would like it. The mute is only 4" tall. I projects beyond my trumpet bell about 1/2". I can put my trumpet back in the case without the need to remove the mute. The compact size works great and fits in my case without taking my room. I love this mute.5Flawed building qualityWhat a disappointment ! I have been a fan of Pro Tec Liberty mutes for a long time, because of their quality and affordable prices, but this imitation of the famous Denis Wick cup mute... was a disappointment ! The cup interior felt is so thin that the cup does not hold firmly around the main mute body, so that it is impossible to adjust the cup closer or far from the bell. More over, the felt inside the cup was partially unglued.... long story short, I immediately returned the cup mute to Amazon, after thirty minutes it was i my hands.and I did not ask for a replacement... I just purchased, on Amazon again, the Denis Wick cup mute, even if it costs almost twice the price.2Great Mute!My son loves using this mute to practice his trumpet late at night, and it makes virtually no noise. His only complaint is that he feels like he needs to put slightly more pressure in his lips in order to make noise, which makes playing for long periods of time more difficult than if there was no mute. This mute is great if you frequently practice at night and you live with others or you want to be good to your neighbors.4Perfect travel mute.Sometimes I don't have room in my case to fit a regular sized mute so this one "fits" the job well. I can even fit it in my bell and still put it in my case. I used it in a hotel room for a few days and it is seriously the quietest thing I have used. There is going to be some back pressure but it is not as terrible as people make it seem. If you need to practice really bad, you would not be complaining about it. The cork on it is pretty thick and I don't think it will wear down for a long time. Plus, it is really cool to see others' reactions when I use the absurdley small practice mute.5A well made quality mute. This is a light weight mute. It s possible to take it apart & use as a cone mute. This is possibly it s best feature.5I like to play trumpet after my kids go to bed ...This is an unbelievable find for me. I like to play trumpet after my kids go to bed and I used to use a regular mute and feel guilty about waking them up. This mute literally makes NO NOISE! You could play it inside the babies room while they are sleeping. The only negative is that you have to put a little more pressure to your breath, there is a resistance but for practice its awesome.5
