Customer Reviews

Too Flimsy I bought this because it was the thickest card stock I could find quickly. It was not thick enough for my idea, but I kept it for a rainy day. I am now trying to make paper fans, so I looked at this paper as a possibility. Still too thin, since it bends easily when fanning. I turned to my go-to print shop to get solutions, and they presented me with 110lb card stock as their recommendation. When I asked to see their 100lb card stock, I was amazed at how much heavier, thicker, and more rigid it was. I do not know much about how paper is labelled, but I do know from a hands-on test that this is significantly thinner than the 110lb paper my local print shop has. 1Used for Kirigami I decided to try doing some basic Kirigami patterns (paper cutting and folding). I wanted a paper that was fairly thick, somewhat inexpensive and something that would still go through my laser printer without jamming. This paper seems to fit the bill pretty well. I opened the package, fanned the paper on all four sides to loosen the sheets and hopefully prevent jamming and printed my first sheet. It jammed. I thought I had wasted my money and would need to get a lighter weight paper.. But, I figured that first sheet could have just been a fluke so I printed another sheet and it went through the printer just fine. That one sheet jamming appears to have been an anomaly since all my subsequent sheets have printed out just fine. There is a bit more noise with the printer having to work to a bit to force the heavier stock on it's path through the labyrinth of rollers, past the fuser, etc. It comes out with a slight curl to it but that's not uncommon and easily fixed. It might be a tad bit heavier than I need for what I'm doing but it might just be that I need to get a little bit more practiced in doing some of the scoring and folding required in what I'm doing. I may try a bit lighter weight paper in the future. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. 5Thinner than 110 lb & partially damaged sheets On researching 110 lbs Card Stock I had two options among others 1) Wausau Paper Index Card Stock, 92 Brightness, 110 lb, Letter, White, 250 Sheets per Pack(49411) Sold by: MyOfficeInnovations for $8.71 OR 2) Neenah Exact Index Card Stock, 250 Sheets, White, 94 Brightness, 110 lb, 8.5 x 11 Inches Sold by: Amazon.com LLC for $11.99. Except for brightness they were the same. So I ordered one of each.1) The Paper Index Card Stock, 92 Brightness, 110 sold by: MyOfficeInnovations I noticed the following. As other reviewers commented that this is thinner than 110 lb paper. Also as others commented the outer shipping package was intact but the Paper packaging was ripped open and about 10% of paper side was bent, I can not use the bent paper so they go to waste. Over all it is a negative experience and will not purchase such an item again.2) The Neenah Exact Index Card sold by Amazon was well packaged, sheets intact not damaged and the thickness feels better. Overall this is a better product, service and worth the extra $3.28. I will purchase the Neenah Exact Index Card sold by Amazon in the future. 1Beware: 110 index is not the same as 110lb cover. After a lot of web searching, I found why my latest order of 110lb cardstock didn't match my previous order of what I thought was the same thing. This card stock is "110 Index" cardstock, which I found is much thinner than "110 cover" cardstock (110 index is about 65 cover - yeah, not at all confusing). There really ought to be a single standard for paper thickness, but unfortunately there isn't (manufacturers use various Byzantine code words such as "Bond Ledger", "Offset Text", "Cover", "Tag", "Index" and "Points"), and sometimes they don't even specify at all, so those of us who aren't paper connoisseurs (and outside of the industry, who is?) are out of luck.I guess it's not really the seller's fault, nor is it really the individual manufacturer's fault. However, given the very common confusion that exists over this issue, each could have added a few words explaining the situation. Really, how difficult could it be for each manufacturer to list the thickness of the paper, both on the package and on websites where they sell the product? It shouldn't feel like I'm entering the field of rocket science when I want to order a specific thickness of card! 2Great quality and great price I bought this card stock paper to print and cut out patterns for fabric work (mainly applique and quilting). It works great for me. It's thin and flexible enough to easily go through my printer with no problems, but it is thick enough to hold its shape and not tear when I repeated trace a pattern. Before this card stock, I was using lightweight cardboard for patterns and stencils (like cereal boxes) and this holds up much, much better. After several tracings, the cardboard would get soft on the edges and get slightly larger every time I traced it (which is really bad for square quilts)--but the card stock DOES NOT do this. I recently traced about 100 butterflies with one stencil and the card stock held up perfectly. For anyone wanting card stock to make stencils or patterns, I would highly recommend this product. 5Good card stock for multiple uses. The paper is a bright white which provides a great backdrop to vivid ink colors but it seems thinner and not as stiff as other 110lb card stock that I've used. It still works for everything I've used it for though so I guess I can't complain but it only gets 4 stars from me due to this discrepancy. I do a lot of paper crafts using card stock like this so the overall durability and integrity of the paper is very important to my rating. In general, it's a fairly good paper. It's got a little more grain to it then I'd prefer (I like my paper to be a little smother) but it's a good general all-around multi-purpose card stock. 4Very high quality cardstock! I love this cardstock! I am a teacher and go through a lot of it and the price is very reasonable (better than most of the supply stores - and this just shows up at my door!)Pros:- No problems feeding paper through a inkjet printer (some thicker cardstocks won't feed smoothly)- Very smooth finish- Holds the ink well (no smearing or fading)Note: This is more of an off-white paper (92 brightness). Not really a pro or con but something to be aware of before purchasing it. It is not a "bright white". Personally, I find it easier on the eyes but depending on your use you might want to get a brighter white paper.Overall, this is a wonderful product and I am back to order more! 5Quality well worth the price. The quality of paper is good. The edges don't fray nor does the paper tear easily. I've used it to print cards for a war game. Cut the cards out, 16 per page. You can't shuffle like a normal deck of cards but the quality of the cards at the end of the game was good enough to keep the deck for our next game and probably last for a few more as well. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the paper for endurance as well as the image resolution in the print. The paper absorbed the ink yet didn't fall apart. Think of other paper products that can hold that claim. (Fortunately, this paper isn't nor does it have to be soft.) The 110lb paper holds up to abuse. Ink sticks to it well and the 92 brightness is good. 5A Cardstock Comparison I've been working on a project that's demanded a lot from my paper (prototyping a new card game), so I thought I'd share what I've learned here:Firstly, the "weight" ratings on paper are incredibly confusing and misleading. There's a dozen different ways to measure weight, things like "cover, index bristol, bristol and tag", etc - so you can pretty much ignore the manufacturer's rating as a reliable indication of which paper is thicker / by how much.In prototyping the card game , we purchased this paper, as well as some by Neenah - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006P1ER8O/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B006P1ER8O&linkCode=as2&tag=allofthetech-20&linkId=Z53UXR775ESFGDZKEven though the rated weight of the Neenah paper was significantly smaller, we could barely tell the difference in hand. The only reliable way we could tell the difference was that this paper had a much smoother texture - so that should be your primary decision point, not how much heavier one claims to be compared to the other's claim.Of course, since Neenah's paper is a third the cost, unless you /really/ want smoother paper, I'd recommend going with their paper.I hope you found this helpful!UPDATE: As an added bonus, I recently reviewed several paper cutters and figured that people purchasing card stock might also want to cut it. I found two good options:The $40 Swignline (whose price seems to swing quite a bit) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IATH/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00006IATH&linkCode=as2&tag=allofthetech-20&linkId=SV5NFNPKIHFFOBRFAnd the $110 Amzdeal (who is regularly used by small print shops) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CI02DSM/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00CI02DSM&linkCode=as2&tag=allofthetech-20&linkId=63BWPYOBKAPWQAM6If you need the cheapest cutter possible, the Swingline works. It's a little better and a little faster than using scissors, but we found that it was only able to cut about three sheets of cardstock at once, and the lack of clamping meant that longer cuts would drift by up to 1/16th. No good if you're trying to do precision work! When we bought the Swingline, we managed to catch it at one of its low swings, when it was only $26. At $40, the $110 Amzdeal becomes a much better value - we're returning our Swingline and sticking with the Amzdeal. It's a much sturdier machine (the Swingline, made of plastic, actually flexes when you cut). If also provides much better measurement and clamping options, so we're able to get the exact same cut, with no drift, every time. Not only that, this machine is capable of cutting DOZENS of sheets of cardstock, compared to the Swingline's three. 3Very nice weight This is exactly what I needed. We use ledger cards for patient accounts. And the last order the cards were all of 20 lb weight!!! I was shocked. I use metal tabs on the top for filing and they kept bending over in the file and were just not what I've had before. When I searched for them again, none of the vendors would state the lb on them.So I scratched my head and realized I don't need all the lines on them anyhow. When I found this I was very pleased. It did not take long for my assistant to cut them to the 8 x 5.5 inch we need. And they stand up beautifully. And we actually like having the freedom to write the info on them as we please. So take that all you ledger card vendors that are cheaping out on the paper weight. I hope this helps others as well. 5
