Customer Reviews
Great stuff!I love this ink a lot, I use it to do drawings and it leaves a nice shiny surface when dry. It does not bleed through paper even in my cheap sketchbooks, but I definitely recommend using this on nice smooth paper for best results.5It writes really smooth and looks great on the pageWhen I started calligraphy, I picked up a couple different color inks. They all work really well with the pen nibs I have and the colors show really well. I've tried other kinds of ink before and this is the only one I will buy. It writes really smooth and looks great on the page.5MisleadingWhile the bottle is labeled as fountain pen & dip pen ink, this is not really the case.As several other individuals have experienced, it seems to clog fountain pens and work poorly. One contributor said that the ink contains pigment particles rather than being soluble dye based like fountain pen inks are supposed to be, and it does seem to be the case with my use. Don't use this ink with fountain pens.On the dip pen side, it's a pretty lackluster ink. I assume whoever formulated thought that if the ink was simply more runny, it would be fine to label it as a fountain pen ink, as I find it is much less viscous than my speedball/kuretake/yasutomo inks. While some people may enjoy this as it DOES make it more manageable, in the sense that it will clog less and run onto the page more easily, I find this characteristic to be rather negative. It causes the ink to bleed more in the page, and too much ink to run off the pen causing thicker lines created with G nibs to pour a small puddle on the page. You also have to be very careful as the ink doesn't dip to the nib as well so if you load up your nib heavily it could conceivably drip off and ruin whatever you were working on.Overall while it's a complete failure as a fountain pen ink in my book, I could see some people who want a dip pen ink that flows more easily to enjoy this ink. Despite this, I am not a fan.2We used this color for our wedding announcements. Each ...We used this color for our wedding announcements. Each envelope was handwritten in calligraphy and the light blue really reads as dark blue, the other blues we tried were very close to navy or black, this is more of a dark blue that goes medium blue where the ink gets thinner. They looked incredible.5The BestThis is the best I have found. Im just beginning and have tried a few different ink brands, this leaves them all behind. Is now my go to.Im using Speedball Calligraphy Pens5Best white ink for parchment craftingI've used a few brands, but this one tops them all. It flows well and doesn't clot, so I get a nice, clean line when I'm drawing. If it gets thick from having the top off too long in this dry climate, I can thin it with water. I tried diluting a few drops to see how it works, and it was so smooth and pure, I'm hooked. I'll try their gold ink next.5Beautiful colorThe color is absolutely beautiful but it will clog a fountain pen. It is great for using temporary in a fountain pen as long as you use it every day. It s mostly for dip pens and/or quills. Overall, the color is just like the bottle.4Yellow Ochre, not for fountain pensThis review is specifically for the Yellow Ochre ink which is labeled as being ok for fountain pens. Well it can be used in a fountain pen, as long as the pen is very wet, but also one that you can thoroughly clean after each use. I tried to use this ink on a cheap, but good and wet, chinese fountain pen and it was a struggle. It will let you write but will require that you squeeze more ink into the feed to keep the nib wet and it will dry and clog your pen fairly quickly. If you were to put this in a high end pen that not fully serviceable you risk clogging the feed. It is a nice color though with good shading and a tiny bit of sheen so I'm considering getting a cheap dip pen to use it over the years the bottle will last me.3Ink way too thick. This ink was way to thick for my pens, it clogged all three of them, which was pretty sad cause man I was looking forward to writing with the ink.Anyways, what I did was dilute it with water, and voila my pens write again. Perfectly fine. And the intense black color didn t vanish.3Wonderful InkWindsor and Newton makes the best calligraphy ink I've found so far. The color is great, and freely flows from the pen nib. What makes this product so great is that it is not waterproof. While you may think that you would want a waterproof ink- you don't. Waterproof inks will clog up your pen nibs, and even regular cleanings won't completely stop it. Do yourself a favor and buy non-waterproof inks. Ever since I've found this Windsor and Newton ink, I won't use anything else.5
