Description

The pulsing, hypnotic jams on Osibisa's 1972 LP sent it into the UK Top 20 and became a firm favorite among students and rock-festival fans as well as the critics. The title track (later covered by Art Garfunkel) joins Move On; Rabiatu; Survival; Beautiful Seven, and more!

Customer Reviews

They were better than Parliament/FunkadelicsI saw them live. They were better than Parliament/Funkadelics, Earth-Wind-&-Fire, and the Jackson 5 in the 70s. Better than Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly, or Led Zeppelin that I saw in the 60s. Ramsey Lewis, Dizzy Gillespie, & Miles Davis could play well; but not much of a show. These Guys were just GREAT!5then and now musicwhen they first came out I would listen to this album when I would be stoned [high] and loved the sounds . I still love the sound I do not get stone now but they still sound great5The music on this CD is awesome. The title track "WOYAYA" is one of my ...I own this album on vinyl. Very difficult to locate on CD. The music on this CD is awesome. The title track "WOYAYA" is one of my favorites !!Wish I could see them live one day !!5Extraordinaire even after almost 30 years!!!!!I owned this LP (remember those????) almost 30 years ago and ever since I lost it I had been searching everywhere for a copy of this album until I bougth it here about a year ago. Well, now I know why I kept looking for this record!!!!! It is probably one of the best records I own. I lent it to my 15 year old son a couple of weeks ago and now he doesn't want to give it back. Osibisa performs in such a way that will lift up your spirits no matter when or where you listen to it. A week doesn't go by that I do not listen to it at least once while driving. Their use of drums, nature sounds and voices will keep you entertained time and time again.5Five StarsBRINGS BACK OLD MEMORIES5Five Starsgreat5Five StarsGreat CD5WOYAYA "Be Happy"Great old music from the early 70s. World Music that rocks as good today as it did then. Saw them live back then... very impressive (as was Amy after the show... but that's another story). Get this CD and open your ears.5It was the best of times it was the worst of timesLet me 1st say that the 70tys was my high time and I know alot of poeple talk about how great it was and they seem to over rate it, but God help me the music they where making was some of the best music of man's history so far, and the group Osibisa was a big contributer in my nighborhood every one was crazy about the group where they were from what they put out. This woyaya album had an awsome cover that opened like a book and there where pictures of the band playing there insturments, I would listen to it over and over my favorite was survival on the open of the song when one member started this chant and another not knowing they had started recording yelled out we might as well tape this one and i guess the enginer say's we were Robert, then they all laugh, and he starts the chant, I never knew if it was just a chant of vocal sounds or actual words with these heavy drums and congas playing and just when your about to say well dam how long does this go on, they change up on a drum down beat and this choir of voices comes in on the back ground and a band member sings out, come on you poeple raise up your hands and sing the song of the land and then comes the osibisa horn section. man i don't know where these guys are today but they sure filled a lot of my jobless marijuana smoking stupified days with some of the best music I can remember. get this you'll love it I was so glad that I ran across it. Now I listen to it with a clear head after a day of work with my Daughter who alway's laughs, :) thru the chant on survial.5Five StarsI love this album...5
