Customer Reviews

Terrible Audio QualityI recommend you avoid this mixer. I'm not entirely sure why but it compresses and peaks the signal to the point of distortion despite the audio source not being anywhere near loud enough to be peaking. Ridiculous! The only thing the manual says to troubleshoot is the loudness of the source material. Well I'm not playing anything louder than it was using my old mixer (which is an older Yamaha btw) and it sounds just fine on the old mixer. Not to mention the fact that I triple checked the levels for my audio card software (audio card output routed to mixer and from mixer to speakers) and nothing was peaking. So why in the world is this mixer squashing the signal and making it sound like peaking and overly compressed garbage??Every knob and setting is configured per the manual recommendations and I even tried turning down the source and the gain on the mixer but it still sounds distorted.I suppose it's possible that there is a blown capacitor but I have a suspicion there is a flaw in the design of this unit. Either way I no longer trust the quality of Yamaha. Will be returning this ASAP and just sticking with my old mixer until it dies.Avoid this unit!1and it's actually better than expectedOwned this mixer for about two months, and it's actually better than expected. It is small, I would probably consider it a two channel mixer (though technically it has six channels), does not have a mid-range EQ, the channel volumes are a knob, instead of a slider and it also doesn't have USB output; so why 5 stars?I think some of the "less positive" reviewers maybe had unrealistic expectations of a super small form-factor, sub-$120 mixer. It fits a need and; that comes down to what is does have. The signal to noise ratio is fantastic as far as I can subjectively tell. It also has dual (stereo), balanced XLR outputs. Effects are well done, although admittedly, I don't really use them (especially in pre-production). As far as "no midrange EQ", there is no substitute for a hardware based knob but, if you know how to work the high/low EQs alongside the gain and master volume, you can in-fact, somewhat "tweak the mids" and this shouldn't be a deal breaker for an experienced sound person. You can tell the minute you explore the unit, that it is well made and uses high quality components. All things said, in my opinion, it is a two channel, podcasting mixer. I have two Shure SM7B microphones and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 connected to this mixer for small studio interviews. I am confident saying that I would challenge any sound professional to come up with a better sounding setup for the money. You can spend 10x as much for an insignificant bump up in quality. As a side note, I've used this setup with Adobe Audition/Premiere, Audacity and Garage Band (although with Garage Band, I was using a Shure SM-57 as a guitar mic) and again, it exceeded my expectations.5Quality is what I need!Quality is what I need! I was tempted to go with Behringer, but it originates in China, I have already experienced background noise and some power issues with previous versions do I said no. This has been fantastic on the other hand. Got this about over eight months ago, and so far it's been nothing but reliable and still can be used for quality audio. Also, Yamaha derives from Japan so wow, what a major difference. Thank you!5First Mixing Board, Multiple Guitars From One AmpI purchased this mixing board so that I can play electric guitar on the same amp as my guitar teacher. This mixer allows me to plug multiple instruments into one amplifier. The board also includes some small effects you can add (room type, for example). What I liked best about this board were the instructions: they were idiot proof. This was the first mixing board I have ever purchased, and the included diagram showed me what to plug into which port, and which dials to turn. I went from box to playing using it in under 30 minutes. You will need a fair amount of cables when using a board, so keep your cables in kind when buying a board.5Best of the budget mixers. Get the one with effects.Best of the budget mixers. True 48 volt phantom power, solid robust build. Please note, that there are two versions: MG06 and MG06X. I originally bought the MG06 with no effects, but later sold it and bought the MG06X with effects. The effects are important for vocals and making the sound fit properly in a room. If that's important to you the MG06X is the one to get. Otherwise, in terms of performance and reliability both versions are the best of the budget mixers in terms of sound quality and durability.* if you bought this in the USA the power supply / AC adapter only supports 110. Search Amazon for MG06 AC Adapters if you need 110-240 so you can travel with it overseas.5This is the small portable mixer you re looking for.I have the MG6 and it met and exceeded my expectations. I wanted a high quality small mixer board with basic features that would fit in a bag - this is it. I m a vocalist and guitar player, and this works slick for small one man gigs. Amazing clear sound. Works well to plug into an xlr wall jack when the controls are not easy to access near the mic, such as when setting up alone and there s nobody else around who can help do a proper sound check. Easy quick tone control without messing with a bunch of knobs and buttons.5quality built and practical easy fx adjustmentMy second review, after about 2 x weeks use. If you really know mixing adjustment either by using quality equipment connected to the mix device, and high quality headphones or speaker monitors for your project this little guy is a 5 star winner for simplicity, quality built and practical easy fx adjustment. I highly recommend this device for portability. In my case I pair it with my Tascam recorder and yes, you want to use a good quality condenser microphone to get the best of this device be at a live audience or your small home studio.5Outstanding!The best mixer for karaoke I could find. Clean sound output. Works great with Shure wireless system - highly recommended! I like the sound effects applied to voice - different types of echo, hall - stadium like effect, great for singing anthem hit songs. Mixes voice with music at a studio recording level, very organic output when the levels are setup well. I love built-in hf filter and attenuation functions (dramatically reduces noise). There is also an output to record on iPhone, etc. Note: you do need quite a few cables for this mixer so it adds a little to the total price. Bottom line - this mixer makes your voice sound better. It's easy to use and I highly recommend it for karaoke.5An excellent small studio mixer for the money. This works well in my small studio. I use the XLR for microphones and the single ended for my keyboards. The first two channels have the effects, the rest are dry. That works for me because the keyboard has its own effects. I add reverb to my XLR vocal mic and to the single ended Harmonica mic for channel 2. There is a slight hiss but only when you are right up to the monitors at high volume. Otherwise it is quiet. I like that it has multiple outputs. The XLRs go to my studio monitors and the headphone output is independently controlled. I have even put the output from my band recordings into channels 5 and 6 so I can play along with the band's set and work on my playing. Hard to beat for the money. I tis small enough to sit on my keyboard out of the way. I haven't taken it on gigs because the band's PA and house PA have the effects I need. Also, plan on having AC power so you may need an extension cord. Highly recommended.5Great small mixerI bought this for use a small mixer for a wedding, and it fit the bill perfectly. I bought this unit based on Yamaha's track record, and the fact that it has xlr outputs for the mains, which is rare on smaller mixers. There's no noise associated with this unit, the knobs are all smooth, and it provides just enough inputs for background music at a wedding, or even for live use with a small band. Really happy with it.5
