    A little rough but great for the priceI ordered these as a sample for a crochet class I am planning on teaching with project supplies provided. I wanted to provide my students with a working starter set of hooks without a huge cost for the class.Glad I read the reviews I was not caught unaware of potential defects. These were all very rough and needed sanding before they were usable. If you don't mind taking the time to get a better finish on the working edges of these tools they are great for the price. It did not take much effort to finish sanding the rough spots out. Rough spots were usually in the neck of the hook or across the tip but 150 extra fine and some steel wool cleaned them up beautifully. All the hooks feel nice and sturdy, even my smallest felt sturdy I did not feel like I was at risk of breaking it unless I got really rough with it.They are all marked in mm with 2 hooks that don't fit standard US sizes. The markings are faint and I don't know how well they will hold up under regular use. I would recommend picking up a needle gauge for future verification or other means of marking the hooks.I will probably order these for my student project sets!4The girls...Say these are great! Lightweight and dont break easily.5Crocheting cat bedsThese did not work for me very well. They keep catching the yarn I'm using so I finally put them away. I'm keeping them, I may take them with me when I travel. They just needed to be smoothed a little bit more so they don't catch the yarn. They are lightweight and I like that. I also thought they were longer and are not but it's hard to tell on the picture.3Not a fan..As an experienced crocheter I must say these are not my favorite hooks.First of all the hook is rather shallow. Which makes catching the yarn very difficult. I tend to crochet fast and often without looking but these hooks slow me down more than I'd like. And it's impossible not to look while doing it.My other problem with them is, maybe they aren't shaped right or something? But I'm finding they have a tendency to roll while you crochet. Which throws me off even more paired with the shallow hook.I have never used wood hooks before but I'm guessing there are a lot better ones out there than these.If you are a beginner I strongly recommend you shop around a little more. These will make it even harder to learn how to crochet in my opinion. They're quite a difficult hook.1The hooks I received were not as pictured. They ...The hooks I received were not as pictured. They were too bulky and I spent a lot of time sanding them down. The hooks weren't deep enough to catch the yarn and I had a hard time getting the hooks between some stitches. After I sanded them, I put a coating of nail polish on them and it helped, but it still took too much time to finish the project i was working on.1hooks are great I like the hooks very much they are very light and easier to work with. They don't leave a indention on my finger when I been crocheting for awhile. I would recommend this hooks to everyone but in particular who have flexibility in their hands. 5Most excellent natural hooks!easy on the hands, smooth fluid movement through a project. highly recommended!5My Wife Loves them.After reading the reviews, I checked each one individually and cleaned up and smoothed out with steel wool and a emery board.This eliminated any burrs, hangups, or imperfections resulting in a perfectly smooth hook.My Wife has been using them since Christmas, and just Loves them. She says they are so light weight and have a natural feelthat the metal ones just don't have.5Beautiful & functional I love how the smooth wood looks and feels in my hands. This set was bought as part of a gift box I am putting together for someone else but I haven't put it with the other items because they are so beautiful that I am tempted to keep them. I love natural wood items, they are so pretty and make me think about how our distant ancestors might have made their tools and worked with what they found in nature... yep, I'm a bit odd but this product is still awesome. 5Nice qualityUpdate: the smaller size hooks are not good for smaller projects such as amigurumi. The yarn seems to catch on almost every stitch which is not good when trying to make a doll or small animal, it's not giving a smooth finish because of the pieces of yarn that keep catching and pulling.The larger sizes are smooth, but a few of the smaller hooks are rough and catch the yarn a bit. I've never used wooden hooks before, so it does take a little getting used to. The hook part is slightly elongated compared to the aluminum ones. I like them because they are a lighter weight than the aluminum or plastic hooks so your arm doesn't get as tired when using the larger sized hooks.Also, on the smaller sizes, it's almost impossible to read the size of the hook. I used a very fine point Sharpie and marked the size on them so it's easier to see the size3I could not recommend these as crochet hooks What will happen is as you push your hook through the yarn the tip of the hook will end up being to long or odd shaped so that wrapping or reaching for the next strand is very difficult. Once you do manage the task of wiggling the hook to hold your yarn strand you'll notice the unfinished wood will have torn apart your yarns fibers and strands making anything you attempt to create meaningless and monstrous. I could not recommend these as crochet hooks. They are terribly crafted. Maybe you could use them as a decorative piece?SummaryPros - Possibly decorative use?Cons- Will ruin your yarn. Unfinished wood. 1I really do like these, they don't cause my hands to hurt ...I really do like these, they don't cause my hands to hurt like the aluminum ones, they're great about not getting over hot or making my hands sweaty. The down fall, is that it's hit or miss on how smooth the tapered section of the neck is. I had to sand and smooth a couple because they where really bad about snagging my yarn. And I've found that they dig in and hurt right at the crease of my palm right at the base of my pinky, if I crochet for to long. With them, because the ends are not rounded. I do love them though.4I was hoping to love thesebecause I really love, love, love my bamboo knitting needles, but these hooks are a little rough. To help break in one that I am working with at the moment, I did a little smoothing with some 400-grit sandpaper and then rubbed it with a smidgen of coconut oil, and it is working much better.4
